Norbert!!!!!

My French comic strip book Norbert Le Mouton, published by Editions De L'an 2/Actes Sud, is now available to buy! Yippee!!! How exciting is that?

You can pick it up from amazon.fr and various other online French stores.

But, don't worry if you can't speak French, cos the British version will be available in September from Bloomsbury!

Merci beaucoup!

September?! That's whole 6 months from now! Why the long wait? Aren't the stories already in English?

It's all schedules and stuff. I was just proof-reading it only this morning and apparently it's off to the printers in the next week or two. You have to also remember that The Beano created the lettering and speech bubbles, plus coloured all the strips, so this all had to be re-done by little old me. New panels were created too, to keep things neat and tidy as well as the whole thing being re-scanned at a much higher resolution (1200dpi) than that originally submitted to the Beano (300/400dpi). This included stacks of redraws due to corrections and tidying in photoshop on the original versions for the Beano which were done at a low resolution (300/400dpi) and were therefore unusuable. Pretty much a remastering of the original strips!! I'm kinda hoping that the book doesn't sell too well, so I don't have to go through all that again with another collection :) (I'm joking of course. I've been scanning my strips for the last couple of years at 1200dpi, just in case...)

Bloomsbury also need time to sell the book to retailers in advance, no doubt, in order that it's in as many outlets as possible for the launch (I'm guessing that last bit, but it's probably true.)
